My daughter was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect that required open-heart surgery to repair at nearly six months old. The months leading up to surgery, the surgery itself, and the recovery that followed were some of the most difficult and emotional experiences of my life.
A year out, we’re in a great place and I hope Lila’s story will bring you hope. I want to support other CHD parents going through similar circumstances because I understand how frightening, overwhelming, and isolating this journey can feel. Sometimes, you need someone who understands the fear, the waiting, and the emotions that come with having a child with a heart condition. My hope is to offer a listening ear, understanding, and reassurance that no parent has to go through the thick of it alone.
